The little town of Adams is nestled in a valley between the Taconic range and Hoosac Range in the Northern Berkshires of Massachusetts. Adams is named in Honor after the Samuel Adams, the revolutionary leader and signer of the declaration of Independence. Adams is also home to the birthplace of Susan B. Anthony; The figure of the woman's suffrage movement.
The town Adams is full of rich history that has positively impacted this nation in political, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. These achievements have helped and propel our nation grow to where it is today!
We are also home to one of the first plastic manufacturing plants, The American Zylonite Company formed in 1881 that helped provide affordable products such as combs, hand brushes, piano keys and other Novelty items to the masses.
Later in 1889 Berkshire Cotton Manufacturing Company was founded and became a leader in textile manufactured goods. In 1955 during the decline of american produced textiles. Berkshire Cotton Manufacturing Co. Merged with Hathaway manufacturing Co. To become know as Berkshire Hathaway Inc. In a few years time Legendary Investor Warren Buffett would buy enough stock to control the company and turn it into the multinational conglomerate holding company that it is today.
Additionally, Adams is home to one of the largest limestone quarries in the world; an important mineral that is used in medicine and building products. There is a great chance the medicine cabinet in your house already has a small piece of Adams!
How Frieri Tooling Started
2020: The year nobody in our lifetime will forget. Much of the world was shut down and traveling became difficult due to covid restrictions governments across the world elected. Like many others my plans to travel were suddenly canceled. And like many others in that year; i was looking for activities to keep myself occupied with the much free time i now suddenly gained. The idea for my activity would be to start utilizing the bench top lathe i already owned. The idea was simple; it was to start producing high quality tools made right in the United States.
The first product that Frieri tooling produced
A longtime friend of mine who is a firefighter in Longmeadow Massachusetts. Posted photos of himself making wooden dowel cherry bombs/hinge hangers with a bent nail. When i saw the photos i said to myself “i would not trust these in a structure fire”. Being a career machinist and owning a small bench top lathe; i did what any good friend would do. Make him those trusted cherry bomb/hinge hangers.
To accomplish this task we got to work producing and testing with different designs. A final design was reached and settled; a round aluminum bodied hinge hanger; that is threaded for a steel hook. It was determined that adding the safety lock nut would be needed. This would prevent the possible failure of the hook becoming lose and unscrewing.
The first product and design was ready to be tested other than by friends. The final design had to be tested on the free market. Aha! The brilliant idea to sell hinge hangers on eBay. A quick listing was made and we waited for the results. After positive feedback and messages we can happily say selling on eBay was a success; and the same design is sill for sale!
Following the success of the hinge hangers. We kept busy doing in house designing and production of tools. In 2023 we added our line of forcible entry wedges. These forcible entry wedges come in multiple styles. We also designed and produced our popular mini wedge the same year.
We hope to expand into other markets where tools are needed in the near future.
